In this newsletter we inform you about the following topics:

Brand new analyzer V&F MotoSense has been released

Today’s challenges in developing high performance, low consumption and ultra-low emission engine and catalyst designs demand very fast, sensitive and detailed emission monitoring systems.

The V&F MotoSense  serves as a powerful tool to study organic HC as well as inorganic N and S gaseous emissions in raw exhaust gas and tail pipe by automotive and catalyst researchers. Fast gas response times of 20 msec and a high dynamic range of 1 to 104 enable detailed study of nonsteady processes.

The following substances can be analyzed:

  • N-Components: Ammonia (NH3), Nitric oxide (NO), Nitrogen dioxide (NO2)
  • S-Components: Hydrogen sulfide (H2S), Carbonyl sulfide (COS), Sulfur dioxide (SO2), Carbon disulfide (CS2), Methyl mercaptane (CH3SH), Ethyl mercaptane / Dimethyl sulfide (C2H5SH)
  • HC-Components: Methane (CH4), Acetylene (C2H2), Ethene (C2H4), Propene|C3H6), 1,3 Butadiene (C4H6), Benzene|C6H6), Toluene (C7H8), Styrene (C8H8), Xylene / Ethylbenzene(C8H10)

The advantages are:

Brand new analyzer V&F LubeSense has been released

Engine oil loss is a severe problem in today’s engine development. Downsizing engines together with turbocharging, reducing piston ring thickness in combination with increased cylinder pressures result in engine oil loss. Minimizing oil loss requires knowledge of the engine states in which it occurs.

Especially for transient engine operation real-time measurement instrumentation is obligatory in order to obtain time resolved oil consumption profiles. The V&F LubeSense has been specifically designed for this task. In combination with the V&F GasOxidizer oil consumption rates can now be determined online by means of the SO2 tracer method.

LubeSense - IMR Mass Spectrometer V&F article number 800396.

HSense has been redesigned

Since the first release of the HSense hydrogen and helium mass spectrometer in 1998 many modifications and improvements have been done. The actual 2014 model contains the following improvements:

  • New magnetic sector field mass spectrometer
  • New magnetic coupled rotary vane pump
  • New gas cooling device
  • New flowmeter with max. 5 l/min as the sampling flow is around 2.5 l/min
  • Optional new gas inlet system for low gas consumption (< 10ml/min) is available

Modbus RTU interface and protocol is available

V&F offers several communication interfaces one is the family of Fieldbus protocols. Wihtin the Fieldbus family we already offer EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, Powerlink, PROFINET IO-RT, Sercos, Varan, Profibus DP and Open Modbus TCP.

Besides these protocols we do now offer also ModBus RTU (Remote Terminal Unit). Using ModBus RTU the data will be transmitted in binary form and this provides a high data throughput.
