"Heated Probe Tube" is available

The "Heated Probe Tube" is an add-on product for the V&F process mass spectrometers that has been developed at V&F. This connector is heated to more than 300°C and prevents condensation of the sample gas. It enables a calibration of the V&F analyzer from the front end of the inlet.

1

Features, benefits:

  • No condensation of the sampling gas
  • Calibration of the V&F analyzer at the front end of the sample gas inlet possible
  • The power for the Heated Probe Tube could be supplied internal via a V&F analyzer
  • Optional integrated sinter filter (2µm) available

In this newsletter we inform you about the following topics:

  • Brand new CombiSense Model 2013 has been released
  • "Dual Capillary Inlet" is available
  • New documents published on the V&F website
  • New workflow for exchange articles

Brand new CombiSense Model 2013 has been released

V&F proudly presents the brand new CombiSense model 2013. The CombiSense is a combination of an Electron Impact (EI-MS) and an Ion-Molecule Reaction (IMR-MS) mass spectrometer in one analyzer unit for a broad range of applications.

1

Features, benefits:

  • Separate vacuum systems (chambers, turbo pumps) for IMR-MS and EI-MS
  • EI-MS is independent from IMR-MS source gas switching and thus the setup creation process is simplified
  • Enhanced performance for N2O measurements

"Dual Capillary Inlet" is available

The "Dual capillary Inlet" is an add-on product for the V&F process mass spectrometers that has been developed at V&F. It can be mounted on the gas inlet panel of an analyzer and allows the user to switch between two sample gas inlets.

1

Features, benefits:

  • Sampling from two positions with a switching time below 1 sec
  • Original external capillaries can be used
  • V&Fs established capillary inlet system

New workflow for exchange articles

V&F offers some spares parts as standard articles as well as so called “exchange” articles. The latter are refurbished articles that are sold for a lower price. To offer our distributors such exchange articles we need to get the used articles back. Due to the fact that the return of the original articles has slowed down in recent months, we have decided to change the workflow as follows:

  • If you order an exchange article, we’ll ship the exchange article
  • We’ll invoice the price for the standard article unless the return article had been sent back before we ship
  • As soon as we receive the return article, we’ll send you a credit note about the differential amount between new and exchange article
  • Please note that we’ll accept only return shipments with a delivery note specifying included V&F article numbers
  • Please note that we’ll not bear any shipping and customs costs for returned articles

This new workflow will be initiated on the 1st of January 2014. Please send back all exchange articles that you have on stock by the end of this year. In 2014 you will get credit notes for returned articles only if you order an exchange article in parallel.

You can find a list of affected articles and corresponding exchange articles here.

V&F Newsletter 03 2013 - 16 Dezember 2013

Welcome to the new release of our V&F Newsletter – a service of the V&F Analyse- und Messtechnik Team!

In this newsletter we inform you about the following topics:

  • “Switchable Pressure Regulating Unit" is available
  • “Internal Calibration Gas Cylinders” are available
  • Windows XP in a virtual machine using VMWare

Switchable Pressure Regulating Unit is available

V&F has released a new add-on product for our range of process mass spectrometers: a Switchable Pressure regulating Unit. It allows the measurement of low and high concentration with one single configuration of the analyzer. This is realized with two inner capillaries (fused silica) with different diameters, which can be switched by valves.

So, one analyzer can be used in different applications, where different detection limits are required. Since switching time is rather short (few seconds), it is possible to measure low and high concentrations almost simultaneously.

1

Features, benefits:

  • Analyzer can be used in different applications without changing the gas inlet blocks
  • Switching between 2 inner capillaries within seconds
  • Huge dynamic range >10^5

"Internal Calibration Gas Cylinders" are available

The Internal Calibration Gas Cylinders are an optional add-on product for the V&F process mass spectrometers. Up to three 1l – cylinders can be installed inside the analyzer, which leaves 3 ports for external cylinders on the front panel. This feature allows a review of sensitivity and stability of the analyzers, where no external calibration gas cylinder is available.

Gas consumption is reduced to a minimum by a capillary in order to extend the usage time of each gas cylinder. The fill level of each cylinder can be reviewed in the V&F Viewer software, where also alerts on low fill levels can be set. All three cylinders can be filled with different gases to the customer’s needs.

The bottle holder frame is mounted above the electronic rack, including the source gas cylinders (Xenon & Krypton) and mounting positions (bottle holders) for 3 additional calibration gas cylinders.

1

Features, benefits:

  • No external calibration gas cylinders needed
  • Fill level control via the V&F Viewer software
  • Reduced calibration time, due to short line length

Windows XP in a virtual machine using VMWare

Microsoft Corporation will discontinue support for their operating system Windows XP within the 14th of April 2014.

Some elder V&F software products like MCP, SCP and ACP have been developed to be executable within Microsoft Windows XP. These programs are not able to run natively with Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8. Neither using the Windows XP mode within Windows 7 or Windows 8 allows you to execute MCP, SCP and ACP.

So the solution to operate MCP, SCP and ACP within a modern operating system like Windows 7 or Windows 8 is to install VMWare on the PC. VMWare allows you to install virtual machines on a physical machine (your PC) running under Windows 7 or Windows 8 with virtual machines that run under Windows XP.
